Will Google penalise...

Hi

I understand that Google may penalise a site if you reciprocal link to spammy sites etc but will Google penalise if it's a one way link from a spammy site.

For example: A directory owner adds a reciprocal listing type to his/her directory. Visitors come a long and submit a reciprocal listing.

The directory owner rejects the listing because the visitor has linked from a spammy site, but the link placed on the spammy site remains and is not removed. The directory owner has no control over links from other sites.

Will Google penalise the directory?

it would take an inordinate amount of spammy links inbound to harm a site. It can be done, but by and large no.

No affect on your directory

I don't think so it will affect your site what really can happen is that google may ban that site,but it will not affect your site as long as you have not added link to your site.
