Hey guys.
This is the thread for the live case study and coupon promo that was announced in my blog and the AffiliateFix Forums.

Blog

AffiliateFix

Here I'll be documenting live a campaign since the pre-launch and up to the optimization process with Zeropark.

I've sent a few campaigns already to approve in my account and will be able to reveal a few things in the optimization process (although not the whole campaign data because otherwise everybody would try to copy it).

The idea is that you understand the process behind the optimization on Zeropark and the features you have available to achieve this.

I'll be updating this post twice per week. Next phase is research and offers to start sending traffic.

I already covered the basics to sign up and create your first campaign here if you are new to this, but if you're not new, then you just want to see the updates in this thread :)

I'm flying to Berlin in 3 hours but will update this during the weekend with the first results. Stay tuned and feel free to ask questions (anything related to the promo/coupon please ask in my blog or in the AffilaiteFix promo thread.

Best Regards.

thanks man for ur contribution :)
also make sure that u Update with pictures so that every buddy will follow

Hey mate, really looking forward to this, have signed up under you at ZeroPark and will be depositing $500 for a the full $500 match in a week, thanks for your blog by the way, it's been an amazing read for me as someone who's just about to get into paid traffic :)

OK guys. Here's the first update.
I launched 3 campaigns in Zeropark as I like to get data fast and have several campaigns going to test different angles/verticals.

One of them was a PPV (pop traffic campaign) and a couple of domain (redirect) traffic just to mix a little bit.

After a couple days of testing with a fairly low budget I decided to setup one of the campaigns and focus on the other couple, so here's what i normally check when optimizing the campaigns.

1. Research

First of all, I made some research in a couple of countries (Tier2/Tier3 in this case) to see what was working at the moment. I used Adplexity and found a few landing pages similar to the ones I already had so I grabbed 4 of them for initial tests.

There are a lot of Spy Tools out there but most people and myself agree that Adplexity is hands down the best one at the moment. They have their Mobile intelligence tool and a Native traffic spy tool and both work really well. They're launching an Adult version soon too.

So what I noticed is that most of the verticals that are working with pop traffic are: sweepstakes, antivirus, app installs and a few bizop/casino offers. Sweeps and Antivirus are probably the biggest ones but it really depends on the country and the offers available.

I won't tell which CPA networks or the exact offers I'm using in the case study because it doesn't make much sense, but I decided to test 3 countries where there were a few top offers in the network and see what happens after sending traffic for a few days.

2. Landing Landing Pages and setup

Setting up everything with Voluum is quite easy. If you have any doubts please check the Voluum guide. I also decided to upload my landers to a CDN and at the same time upload them to a couple of VPSes located near/inside the countries I was trying to test.

Remember I started testing 4 landing pages at the same time, so I'll consider this in my campaigns budget.

3. Launching and defining budget

For this case study I decided to launch offers within the $0.5 to $2 payout range. Depending on your budget, you could test higher payouts or if you're in a tight budget you should probably test anything below $1.

With such payout, I went and put a $20-50 per day budget which was around 20x the offer payout to gather enough data while testing.

Normally I let my campaigns run 1-2 days before doing anything else, however, this time it was a bit different because after launching I took a plane to Berlin for AWE and I've been busy the whole week. This means my campaigns were running without being optimized for almost a week.

However as I mentioned before I paused one of them after checking the stats with 0 conversions (yes, it happens to everyone) and running for 2-3 days.

I ended up testing:

  • 4 landers
  • 2-3 offers (similar offers to split test the Conversion rate)
  • Later added CDN/local VPS to split test

That's why I decided to go for a 20x or higher budget. Actually many times i like to start with a 50x-100x payout budget, but if you're on a tight budget you might want to get started with 10x or so. It all depends on your budget (another good reason to get the coupon promo and increase your chances) and the higher budget you have, the best results you'll end up getting since you'll be able to buy more data.

4. Optimization

So I started the optimization process almost a week after launching the campaigns. The following screen shots don't contain the whole data but it's enough for you to understand the process I took while optimizing the campaign a few days ago.

4.1 Testing multiple offers.
As mentioned above, testing multiple offers is key. So I grabbed 2-3 similar offers but from different networks.

Check this out:
Zeropark Voluum Case Study Offer Optimization.jpg

As you can see, I have 4 offers in my report. One of them has just received 433 visits with 0 clicks. This is actually offer to catch up the traffic that doesn't belong to the country or Operating system that I'm targeting.

Zeropark doesn't send as much traffic like this so overall it's like 0.5% but other networks have higher rates and you want to monetize this traffic after all.

Also, you can see from the 3 original offers one received just 2984 visits and then I decided to cut it because the ROI was 39% while the others had a 100%+ ROI.

Finally you can see that I'm still running pretty much the same quantity of traffic to the other 2 offers but I can clearly see a trend already and one of them converts a little better or has a higher payout so the ROI is 30% higher.

I prefer to wait at least until both of them have a few hundred conversions before cutting them if the performance is "similar". In this case I already know which one is going to perform better but there are extra factors that could get in the way at a later stage.

4.2 Testing multiple Landers

I don't have much to say about this one yet. I tested 4 landers and all of them performed similar. So I decided to start split testing VPS vs. Dedicated vs CDN to see if i can gain an extra boost over there.

As you can see I sent a good amount of visits to each one but the CTR and number of conversions are not so different with the best landing page getting an ROI of 320% and the worse one having an ROI of 285%.

After that I decided to move to split testing other variables as well. We'll talk about that in the next update.

Another thing to notice is that my overall CTR was around 6-7% but when analyzing the targets you'll notice there's a big difference in the CTR.

4.3 Optimizing by targets/publishers

Zeropark Voluum Case Study Target Optimization.jpg

One of the most important things to do when optimizing your traffic is to get rid of the websites that are not converting or they're losing money.

This screenshot just includes a few days from the campaign after being optimized, but you can clearly see which targets (publishers) are doing money and which ones are not.
I can't include the whole list of targets in a picture cause there are hundreds if not thousands, but I want you to notice that you can definitely clear some targets after a few tests.

For example, that target that has 657 visits in the last 24 hours and 0 clicks is probably not going to convert as nobody is clicking through my lander. However I like to wait until the budget has gone 2-3x the payout of the offer on most of the targets and in this case since the offer was around $0.5 I should wait at least until spending $1 before cutting them out.

Finally, notice how some targets have a CTR of 15% and others just like 1 or even 0%. The general CTR from the campaign was 6-7% but after cutting some targets this should adjust itself to a more realistic number.

Conclusions from 1st update

Both campaigns have potential and I'll keep optimizing them until they can make at least 3 figures per day.

Optimizing the campaigns with Zeropark is easy for new people because it's highly integrated with Voluum and you can track everything including the costs. They also have some new features coming soon.

In the next update we'll analyze the campaign with more detail after having our best offers and landers going and we'll check browsers, OS, sources (new token) and more.

I'm flying back from AWE Berlin this weekend and will update you guys after that.
