Competition wise, how good an idea is it to start a web development tutorial blog for beginners? The blog will be complemented by a YouTube channel as well.
So, I have been a web developer for more than a decade now and I enjoy what I do.
I also have been a blogger since the last couple of years or so and have discovered that I enjoy writing too.

While PHP might not be one of the best and most powerful languages out there. It is one of the most practical languages available and is quite robust and powerful. Which implies that there's great scope for PHP in the times to come.
HTML5 is pretty straight-forward. More so if you have some basic idea about HTML.
However, to make a complete website that interacts with its visitors, only HTML5 won't be enough. you will have to have a fair idea of CSS and some scripting as well.
Been into coding since more than a decade now so know quite a handful of them.
To name a few, C, C++, VB, Java, C#.net, VB.net.
On the markup and scripting front, HTML (obviously), JS, jQuery, PHP, CSS, etc.
