Can Someone please explain PBNs

Very newbie here. I have heard mention buying PBN links to get quality backlinks and increased traffic to a website.

I'm interested on both of this points... traffic and quality backlinks... but I have no clue what a PBN is.

Can someone please explain what they are in detail.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a separate website one might set up in order to create inbound links to their other website(s). For example you might own a website that sells Sports Supplements, and therefore you may buy a blog that specialises in articles about fitness, so that you can introduce contextual links into those blog posts to build on your backlinks to your Supplements e-store. The blog you bought would be considered a PBN. Google frowns upon PBN's (and also buying links), so you would want to be cautious going down that path.

If they make it very obvious on their website that they accept paid posts or paid links, then that also makes it quite obvious to Google. Not to say that you shouldn't buy links as part of your strategy. You just want to be cautious and do your homework. I wouldn't recommend doing it on mass either, and make sure the website you are buying the link on has a decent rank.

Also, it's worth doing a google search for link building methods by Brian Dean (Backlinko) and also Neil Patel. They have some really awesome posts regarding a whole heap of strategies for creating inbound links.
