1. Bot Detection

Bot traffic is hard to evaluate, but according to several sources it can be estimated to range from 20 to 50 % of the total traffic of a website, so it is very important to understand it.

With CPV Lab Pro you can:

- You can Create rules to block bot traffic or to redirect it to specific pages

2. Cloaking

What is link cloaking?

In Affiliate Marketing, link cloaking is the process of disguising the affiliate link URL provided by an affiliate program in order to obfuscate your affiliate ID and make the link shorter.

Why to use link cloaking?

There are a few advantages of using link cloaking, like:
- replace a long offer URL
- hide the actual redirect link and provide a link from the same domain as your landing page.
- easy to change the final destination page by simply editing the cloaking page
- display the offer page in a browser while showing another page in the browser address bar

As recently some of our users were asking about listicle tracking campaigns, we decided to offer more information about this type of campaign tracking.

CPV Lab Pro has listicle tracking setup (or multi-level path campaigns) for a few years now, but we will explain the flow below (which is pretty simple really! ):

- you have a campaign with a Main Landing Page which points to X other sublanders (level 2 landing pages) and afterward each sublander points to an offer.
- CPV Lab Pro will track clicks to all Sublanders and Offer Pages as well as conversions from all Offer Pages.

Also, as in CPV Lab Pro almost everything is customizable, you can have:

• multiple levels for sublanders
• one or multiple offers for each sublander
• the option to rotate the offers or not (as you wish )
• works even when visitors get directly to the landing page instead of going through the Campaign URL first (organic traffic).

As already mentioned, CPV Lab Pro Version 6 was recently released and I want to list here some of the new features

1. Google Ads Conversions integration
In order to be able to see your conversions in Google Ads even when using an Affiliate Network, CPV Lab Pro V 6.0 comes with an automatic process of uploading conversion data to Google Ads without using the Google pixel and without asking for your Google credentials!

2. Landing Page Protection Script
- We have added an option to protect your landing pages from spyware parsing and from unauthorized direct access.
- With the Landing Page Protection Script it won’t be possible to see the landing page content even if you have the landing page URL!! You have control over who can see your pages and for how long.

3. CCPA compliance
- The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which came into effect on January 1st, 2020, is a bill intended to enhance privacy rights and consumer protection for residents of California, United States. It is the first GDPR-like law that will apply in the United State!
- Version 6 introduces several options to allow you to comply with CCPA in case you are running traffic from California which is affected by this directive

4. Configuration Editor
- Version 6 brings a way to change all the application settings much easier by using a visual interface.
- Now it is much easier to configure your CPV Lab Pro instance!

5. Capture additional data from Postback URL calls
- Additional metrics can now be captured from the Affiliate Network Postback URLs!

6. LPs Management
- Landing Pages can now be managed and re-used easily in multiple campaigns!

Is Google Chrome's new update regarding cookies gonna affect tracking performance in CPV Lab?

We are looking very closely into browser updates and changes in order to keep up with them and preserve our tracking at a top level. The tracking algorithm inside our application is always updated and improved with each version based on these developments.

The incoming Chrome changes will not affect tracking in CPV Lab Pro, everything will work and track accurate as before. Just like the recent changes in Firefox which have not impacted CPV Lab Pro tracking.

I am certain that CPVLab (et al) have been all over this for a while as it was originally reported 9 months ago.

At present, the Chrome SameSite cookie default is: “None,” which allows third-party cookies to track users across sites. Starting on February 4th, cookies will default into “SameSite=Lax,” which means cookies are only set when the domain in the URL of the browser matches the domain of the cookie — a first-party cookie.

All cookies with the “SameSite=None” label must also have a secure flag, meaning it will only be created and sent through requests made over HTTPs. The “SameSite=Strict” designation restricts cross-site sharing altogether, even between different domains that are owned by the same publisher.

Mozilla’s Firefox and Microsoft’s Edge say they will also adopt the SameSite=Lax default.

The reasons for this is that third-party cookies can make people vulnerable to malicious tracking and data leakage. They can also make them susceptible to what are known as cross-site request forgery attacks. A user might click on a nefarious link in an email that allows a bad actor the ability to log into their banking website, for example.

Just set your cookies correctly and you should be okay, IMO.

Multi-user access
You now have 3 roles available: Admin, Editor and Viewer.
Each of them can see some pages, reports... and, the most important part, they get access only to the campaigns you want to share. So you can now share only specific campaigns with your team members or with your partners!

More Extra Tokens
We used to have 10 Extra Tokens + 4 predefined tokens for capturing metrics from Traffic Sources and MV Lab multivariate variations .... but many of our users said that these are not enough! They want to be able to capture and analyze More Data!

So we added 5 more Tokens and now you have 15 Extra Tokens available for any metrics passed by the Traffic Source or MV Lab!

Notifications
Now you can get email notifications for your campaigns based on your own criteria.
So if you want to be notified every time one of your targets in a campaign gets X visitors, but less than Y conversions, or less than Z% CTR, then you will setup such an alert and get an email notification with these details. It is pretty cool!

Easier to get the Direct Traffic Code and the Postback URL
Honestly, this was not requested... it came following the many tickets we got about "How to get the Direct Traffic Code?" or "Where is the Postback URL for my Offer?".

Auto IDs for Landing Pages and Offers
Each Landing Page and Offer needs to have an unique ID in a campaign.
Now you can have all these IDs for offers and landing pages automatically added when creating a campaign. No need to manually setup IDs anymore!
Of course you can still manually update them if you have your own algorithm for IDs (see, we didn't remove this possibility as we know some of you like to put specific IDs!)

Support for PHP 7.4
You can run CPV Lab Pro on the latest PHP 7.4 with ionCube Loader 10.4 or newer installed on the server.
In fact we recommend that you have at least PHP 7.2 on your server in order to take advantage of all the improvements in the latest version of PHP.
