Creating and running a discussion forum

You need to do a lot of work to get more members and start making money so that you can move to a more professional hosting platform.

I am having the same problems as my site is a couple of months old and still I have under 40 members, the good thing is that proboards hosts the site for free so this site is costing me nothing so far

Well, right now I am still just learning and making money is not my objective since I am just doing it because I like to post and I dont like to just post on other people's forums and having to go by there rules all the time!

Mind you if money is to be made that would be a definate bonus but as of now just to have the satisfaction of building a nice forum with hundreds of members is all that I am looking for!

Can you advice, which one is better to use, phpbb or vbulletin, and what are the differents?

You should do some homework too, visit phpBB website and visit vBulletin and compare their features.
