some of them will be freebie seekers. But if you are providing great content then they will see u as an authority. And when introduce them to a product there will more chances for conversions.
thats the whole point of email marketing - build a relationship with your subscribers.
When they buy, segment them to a "buyers" list, (use AWprotools for Aweber, don't know about other email providers) that way you split the buyers from the tire kickers.
Always, always, always, give out free stuff one way or another. If you are first starting out and you don't have highly valuable, highly actionable content with loads of real testimonials from a beta group, then start a beta group. A beta group will give the social proof that everyone of the potential buyers will first look fo. So, do a limited hand out of your product to reputable members on the WF and ask them for their honest feedback and if it's all good then you can move forward to selling your stuff and building a great reputation in the process. You need to have credibility to properly launch a WSO that will give buyers encouragement to buy while building your own level of authority for the audience in the forum for future product sales. The best way is with the positive reviews and/or testimonials from a trusted sources on the WF, et al, and to have their positive remarks to post when your WSO goes live for sale.As long as your product is stand up and solid, trusted members of the WF will work with you and ask the same of you in the future.
We've found that the best bet is to go with free and then have an upsell once you've gotten a chance to show them what you can do for them. If you can 1) describe their challenge better than they can, 2) Demonstrate that you can help them fix it, then having a small paid offer at the end of your free course will help you both build a list as well as identify people on that list who are willing to spend some money. Keep testing and tweaking and you'll get there. Good luck.

Attention: "role based name" email prefixes such as support, webmaster, info, contact, forum, service, affiliate, admin, traffic, partners, marketing, etc., for our member accounts are not permitted. They are acceptable for a vendor listing, but not for the member email. This is due to bulk email processors scrubbing them for delivery due to extremely high bounce rates. Please apply for membership using a personalized email prefix. Something like bob@xxxxx.com.
If we discover you signed up with a role based name we will give you only one message to change it. After 3 days your account will be removed if the email is not changed.
