Getting Direct referrals

This question is very similar to my last one about lists - Does anyone have ideas about the best way to get direct referrals? Most of the programs I have joined only work through the referrals you bring in. I know the obvious ones like promoting...believe me I have been doing this the best I can! All I can manage is maybe 2 here and three there....just not enough to make a difference. And the ones I do get don't seem to be doing anything!
Ideas, anyone??

Hi Deb, in your previous post you talked about building downlines and now you talk about bringing in referrals and then the ones you bring in don't do anything.

It sounds like you are talking about MLM not affiliate marketing. With AM there are no downlines or referrals and you don't try to get anyone to do anything. You may be involved in an MLM program that tries to make themselves sound more legitimate by referring to it as affiliate marketing, but it isn't.

We don't really deal with MLM here so I doubt you'll get much help in that respect but if you decide to switch gears and want to learn how to make money with affiliate marketing we can help.

Thanks for that. As I said I am new to all this, so thanks for clearing up that confusion!
I am actually involved with both. I have a website that promotes products for Amazon, as well as a couple of others. Haven't been having much luck there, so started trying MLM and yeah, my main problem is getting referrals.
So, as far as my aff marketing with my site etc I will still keep checking back here for any tips. Thank you again for clearing this up for me
