If people want, and ask for, SMS messages they are likely to read them. But I think segmentation to the viewer's relevance matters a lot.SMS is attached to my content sites as an opt-in option
segmentation to the viewer's relevance matters a lot.
SMS and email used as a marketing ploy becomes a nuisance fast unless it's relevant to the viewer's interests --and not you just hyping your latest offer. Do that and you will end up in the spam box and your email reputation will suffer (Gmail, Outlook, etc.).
SMS marketing for a local event
Which is Best?
The best choice depends on your objectives:
In many cases, a combination of both SMS and email marketing can provide a comprehensive strategy, utilizing the strengths of each method. Testing and analyzing the results will help determine what works best for your specific audience and goals.
- For Immediate Engagement: SMS may be better for urgent notifications, flash sales, or reminders.
- For In-Depth Communication: Email is ideal for newsletters, detailed promotions, and informative content.
highly recommed sms stractigeThis is what it is most productive with SMS. A friend of mine put together a platform software for organizations to use for their events and it was an instant success. Fire Departments are using it a lot for their BBQ''s, clothing and food drives, and holiday donations,. Community Centers and faith based organizations are all in on this platform as well. Anything that is a local event.
It seems to me that SMS has seen its better days already because most cold SMS have been largely seen as spam, yet opt-in SMS has become a solid add-on for some businesses. I get SMS from many of the businesses I have accounts with because I opted in for them. The cold SMS I receive, I always type STOP!
SMS is great when we opt-in, and it's always unwanted when it is a cold SMS. If a business wants to contact me "cold", I prefer they do it by email.
