How Much $ For Testing CPA Offer

Hi guys,

So I started sending some traffic to some offers (both direct linking and landing pages), but I"m not sure how long I should keep them running.

So far I've had 0 conversions, after spending $20 distributed over 4 campaigns, each campaign for a different offer ($5/each campaign)

Is there a certain #of visitors/clicks I should have until it's sure to say it has profit potential or not?

And similarly is there a solid dollar amount I can put to testing an offer and after spending that, can surely make a judgement call? E.g Spend $50 or $100 over a week only on that campaign or offer.

FYI I'm doing app/game install vertical with $0.0x and $0.xx payouts; buying popunder traffic.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Few clik-bots click past a landing page. Their intended purpose is to defraud ad networks and actual media buyers (as opposed to advertising buyers). So if your ad link or popunder is to the offer directly <<< then bots are a consideration with regard to conversion and an offers general affinity.

When a popunder is to a landing page traffic quality only influences your landing page's CTR

Banner, Native Ads or other display ads are a bit different.
 
Too little IMHO -- testing will cost a few hundred?
500-1,500 click throughs is a statistically valid example to my thinking.
What is your anticipated conversion ratio? 4 or 5 times that <<< maybe

Ah ok that makes sense. I'll try to assign $100 for each initial testing campaign from now on.

I've only had ~50 click throughs for my campaign where I used a landing page, so I guess gotta run more traffic to it to get significance.

Also check your traffic for bots, because you can spent big part from your budget buying bot traffic :(

I usually start with $200 in 1 week as it's suitable for my budget.

Ok seems Like I definitely have to up my budget then. I only have around $500 a month to spend on affiliate marketing right now, but I can definitely bump up the spending to around $100-150 a week on these campaigns.
 
i suggest you test each offer with a budget of around 20$ to see if the offer has some potential or not.

It kind of depends on the type of offer you are running: For instance for high CPA offers, like Nutra or Casino on deposits, you need to spend at least 500$ just to test the waters, it's a bit of a longer flows for the user, but one conversion and you can break even.

For easier flows, like SOI or sweepstakes, if you spent like 50$ and got nothing in return, maybe re-consider the offer altogether.
 
As Mor said, conversion rates HIGHLY depend on the type of offer and flow for the end user. Your budget will also play a HUGE role (For when you want to scale a campaign, and so you don't run into cash flow issues) as well as the platform you are advertising on (Different Platforms have different audiences who react differently to different offers).

If you are running with a low budget (Under 1k) I'd highly recommend running SOI or Sweep Offers as they are relative "Low Hanging Fruits" and take a much smaller budget to test. (Referencing Mor again you probably never need to spend more than $50 to test a SOI or Sweep).

To add on to that, an actual strategy I would recommend for SOI and Sweeps is Colin Dijs 3-day Rule.

The Basic Premise of it is this to setup your campaign with 3x the offer payout for 3 days across 3-5 adsets.

For exmaple if you are running a SOI offer that pays $1 then your daily budget should be $3 per ad set across 3-5 adsets. That's $9-$15 per day and after three days that would be a $27-$45 testing budget.

If you have less than 9 conversions on an ad set, kill the ad set. If an adset has 9 conversions flat, run it for another 3 days.

If an ad set has more then 9 conversions, increase the budget another 3x to scale. (In this case increase that $3 a day adset to $9).

You need a statistically accurate sample -- that is 500 - 1500 CTR to the 'money shot' <<< where a person *could decide to buy*

that is a minimal sample group to my thinking -- problem what group and how narrow it is defined ;)
