Hi,
I am very new to online Market and SEO . If found many site for domain name auction and people are buying domain for $$$$$.
Can anyone explain me how the value of domain is evaluated and what make people to pay such a high amount only to get domain name.

I would be interested to know now my one of my domain will cost (though I got it with some idea ,but never get time to implement it) www[dot]catchoffer[dot]com
Thanks,

Though your domain may appeal to some for the name, The actual value of your domain is very limited as the development side is basically none.

Your domain is about 9months with no page rank & well i count 2 links back (yahoo). The best way to add value is through development of backlinks as your website becomes more disarable as a whole.

I would concentrate on developing your domain before you worry about the value.

My primary question is How to evaluate value of any site. Basically I am interested to know various parameter on basis of which price is calculate ..I don't think people are mad to by a domin in $10,000 or more.

Generally that is true but if its worth it go for it. Domain value is calculated on the following basis:
  • Domain Name (apprasal)
  • Characters in domain (apprasal - worth more if less)
  • Abbreviations & acronym (apprasal - worth more if not)
  • Domain easy to remember (apprasal - If its easier to remember value goes up)
  • Domain age (older the better)
  • Backlinks (Important factor for most)
  • PageRank (not as important as it used to be)
  • Traffic Rank (If it pulls traffic its good)
  • IP Neighbours (If you have bad/illegal sites on the same IP value goes down)
