I installed Real Player on my PC because I wanted to listen
to a certain bible verse online. Well, I've used Real Player
before, and have always configured it to NOT be default anything.
Well, I have Spybot "Search & Destroy" installed, and guess
what? With Spybot, I have the registry protected, specifically
the "RUN" key, where an entry in that key will automatically
run that executable. When I installed Real Player, I told
the software that I didn't want the program to autorun. But
Spybot blocked that program from entering itself into the
registry.
So far so good, right? All that happened yesterday, but today
Spybot has blocked that stinking program AGAIN from entering
itself into the RUN (autostart) key within my registry.
So long story short, Real Player will install itself into your startup
programs whether you like it or not - at seemingly random times!
What do you all feel about programs that do such things?
