Is it worthwhile to submit our websites to directories?

It is good to submit your website to the directories. However make sure that the directory websites are authoritative and they have good amount of incoming traffic. Only then the benefits can be passed on to your website.

Lots of directories are a waste of time these days and I assume there are even some that could hurt you.

SeoMoz I think has best directory list and has recently done research and updated it.

Public can only view 15 but if a member can see all 400.
