Hey everyone, before i begin my campaigns, I just have few questions about landing pages.

1) What is the purpose of split testing direct linking and landing page linking?

2) How do landing page split testing work?

For example, I've seen people test like 3 landing pages so how would that work exactly? Would they have 1 domain and 1 server and then upload the different files to that one server?

3) Do the names of the domain matter to the related niche/vertical?

For example, if I'm doing a law vertical then will the name of the .com domain have to be related to the vertical or can it be anything?

4) Does it have to be a .com domain or can it be anything and are .com domains better?

Let me answer you quickly:

To see which performs better. Some advertisers will already have amazing landing pages for their offers, in that case you need not build your own. But you can know that only if you test it.

They all will usually be on the same domain and server. Here are few things that you test in a landing page:

- LP Design
- Headline
- Images
- Call To Action (CTA)
- Colors
- Sales Copy

Say you found 3 images you could use, you will have three landing page variants where everything except the image is the same.

It does to a very tiny extend, esp. if you are on desktop. But you need not register different domains for each offer. Pick a generic domain for a vertical and use it. Dont waste money on domains.

Buy one dot com domain. This is not very relevant as to your initial testing. Buy one domain or two and use it everywhere.

you can simply have multiple landing pages in subfolders like www.mydomain/landing1 www.mydomain/landing2 www.mydomain.com/landing3

Is it a good idea to optimise an offer for both desktop and mobile traffic? For example; send desktop traffic to a desktop landing page on the server and send mobile traffic to a mobile landing page on the server. Both of these landing pages send the user to the same offer.

It doesn't matter, its up to you. Organize it how you like it.

It could be something like:

For the end user, it doesn't matter at all.

Dedicated would be expensive, and shared would be too cheap esp for specific traffic types. VPS is ideal. I use a cloud host btw, called Cloudways (non-aff link). They use Digital Ocean servers and the base plan starts at just 5$ per month. If you are going for the base plan, make sure they have only a domain or two on it.

What sort of offers are best for a newbie like myself? For example; zip/email submits, Survey, SOI, DOI, etc.

SOI's and Lead gens. Go for an offer that pays from 0.5$ to 1$ range. Ask your affiliate manager for the top offers on the network by volume.

I have never used paid traffic on desktop, so I cant tell you. I hear that desktop is easier than Mobile. Ask this as a new post on this forum man.

Landing pages for mobile need to be as fast as possible, I code them up in Notepad++.

Zero. Dont spend a buck to get your campaign up and running. Use free landers, design your own ads and do it. Then once the campaign is running, spend 10x the offer payout and see what happens. We will take it from there.

What I meant by the second question (How much also would you recommend a newbie like me to start with to get a their first campaign up and running?) was how much of a budget do you recommend for me to start with? I'm going to be creating all of the ads and landing pages myself.

As I'm going to be aiming at tier 2 countries for my traffic source, my landing page is going to have to be in a different language. How do I translate them proper and professionally without any errors?

So test an offer until 10x the offer payout and see what the ROI is? If not 10x then how many?

Have you been successful using google translator? Just because it can not be precise sometimes

Also, what are good quality traffic sources for desktop offers? I know that people say to begin with to use 7search but I've heard that 7search traffic isn't very good at all.

I use ads bridge for my tracking, they have a landing page builder built into the platform, I cant tell you what it's like though as I have never used it, Depending on the time scale i am working to will depend on what i use, if i need something done quick just to test then i set it up in webflow (theres a link in my sig that will get you $20 off if you decide to upgrade the account from a free account, or just google webflow), it's a drag and drop site creation suite that uses bootstrap as it's framework so it's very easy to get all your pages looking good on desktop and mobile. it's also very easy to add in things like animations and effects and they have some great tutorials on using the platform. If I have a bit of time on my hands I use Notepad++ but I'm starting to use it less now that I'm using webflow.

Both ads bridge and webflow are free and defiantly worth checking out. Ads bridge has great support and they are always happy to assist with anything you need help with

My personal advice would be to stay away from Dreamweaver, the code it puts out is a mess, never used muse, but as far as i know it's subscription only (let me know if im wrong on this one, id like to take a look at it) If you need a program like dreamweaver so you can see what you are building I really cant recomend webflow enough

I am purly a Desktop guy at the moment, the best place to get your traffic is going to be dependent on what your offer is, find the offer, then look at the types of sites that you think your customer will be visiting, find out who has the adspace (inspect element on your right click may help with this ) and then look at their pricing etc.

I run mainly adult, haven't ventured out of it yet but I am assuming that the bassic premise of getting the traffic is the same

That's a good point and one I had not considered. It's the way I find my traffic sources though after trying a few different ways of trying to get highly targeted traffic, if i was going to run payday loans, i would be looking at who has the adspace on the loan comparison sites as this is where people in need , but then I only tend to stick to a few offer types at the moment so that dosnt really cause to much of an issue for me as I always have an offer ready to replace the last that will fit within the same adspace. I found that doing it this way was what worked for me, but then like I said I do adult, and the offers are all pretty much the same, only thing that changes are the keywords and banner graphics.

Op mentioned that he was looking at offers in "law" personally I think op should choose a few offers within law, like personal injery, will writing ( cant think of anything else they do lol) find out what the relation points on the offers are, once you find the relation point in the offers then it gets rid of the need for multiple accounts. But like you said, depending on the OP's background this might be a lot to learn in one go.
