Link Comp - $100 Cash, 6 months hosting....

LOL, that is hilarious! I should run a comp like this. Get 1000 people to link to me and then make up a winner. Funny stuff.

My Reading

I think I must have read the forum explanation wrongly, I'm sure it said -

"Competitions and offers that gives rewards."

Not

"Rude remarks from 'senior' forum members who should know better. Please don't post here, this section was just put up so we can be rude."

Cheers, Chris

i dont know what you guys are talking about. you don't have any sites you are doing nothing with that you can put up a link on. he doesn't even mention the site can't be a free site, or whatever. just has to be on the site for six months. surely your web host provides you ten megs of webspace. quit knocking him for having a competition. if you don't like it don't participate. seems like an easy way for someone to win 100 bucks.

What a bunch of tosspots.

Fancy treating a new member of a forum like that. (shameful)

Like you Mike I registered so I could say what I thought of them. (And I won't be back either).

Wow, you people are kinda bored in life eh? You register just to share your thoughts on a person expressing thier opinions? Now that my friend is sad.

Anyone is welcome to make post in this forum, but you have to be willing to accept the fact that when you place a "spammy" post in the forum someone is going to see it and comment on it. Its the facts of a forum. Go look on any other forum and you will see it . Actually, as I am a mod on two other webmaster forums as well as own my own I can say that I would have gotten rid of the post right off the bat.

You guys/gals can disagree with someones opinion, but that doesnt make yours instantly right.

Grow up and take critisism like adults here. This forum is a very friendly place, if you had looked beyond this thread you would see that. Everyone here is quite helpful. It sounds to me like you dont like the fact that we are honest in our opinions, well, thats life.

If you cant run with the big dogs then stay on the porch.

"This forum is a very friendly place, if you had looked beyond this thread you would see that."

What a ridiculous comment, it like saying let some better utterly rude to you but look beyond that and be nice.

The factor is I've been on many forums and I also moderate on them also, big deal!

The fact is, yes you can expect that "spammy" posts get criticism however that section of your forum is set for people to post "competitions"

No matter if they look spammy which is your terminology not mine.

It's like having an advertising section on the forum and then criticising people for advertising, how absurd.

Now if you have a problem with people posting in this section with their first post, maybe someone should put up a rule regarding this.

Lastly if you don't put up this rule and critisize people putting "competitions" in the "competition" section on their first post - take the stupid thing down.

Anyway, my last words on this forum or is it a forum?

Chris,

You're <cough> competition (As you explained it) is one only a sucker would participate in (we don't like people getting suckered). It simply wouldn't be right if a senior member of the board didn't point that out.

You're <cough>, "competition" smells spammy.

My 2 Cents.

Well I for one use it,and I thank Chris for it, why do you have to knock it with out trying it, or why cant you say something positive, or nothing.

I agree what a few negative morons to say the least.

Also.to say you could do that just to get links, and then make up some winner.yes, mabye YOU could, but Chris aint YOU, so i know he is doing it in an ethical manner.

Islandmarketer, Chris, perhaps you want to shed more light on this linking contest and how it will work so that everyone here would understand that its a fair competition

Thanks

Hi Temi,

The competition is just as states in my first post, please use the link to read the instructions.

As you are administrator, please read my suggestions in my last post re the "competition" section. I have posted on more than a few other forums that also have a competitions section and not received a bad reception on these even though it was my first post.

I will leave it at that.

Regards, Chris

Chris,
Thanks very much for your clarification, I think this is a case of misunderstanding, like I said in my PM to you we get lots of Spam and post (like you get in most forum) you also get competitions that insult common sense. Where a competition is perceived to be of the commonsense insulting type its left for the person who post the competition to explain that wait a minute my competition is not about getting links to my site on the cheap, its about seeing how creative webmasters can be in generating links etc and making $100 in the process.

Naturally some people will be sceptical about the completion but the competition promoter should anticipate this and clarify things without people being rude to one another.

I think Paul and Eric raised a legitimate question about the competition which a simple straight forward answer could have explained.
I wish you success with your competition and invite you to participate in other aspects of this forum, we several other interesting threads beyond the competitions thread.

Thanks
Temi
