POP or Lander

This is probably a dumb question but i'll go ahead and ask anyway. Is a POP UP the same as a landing page or is it more of a banner?

Landing page: user click banner/text add/ whatever else and is taken to a page that gives them the need to buy

A pop will just load when the page loads or a specific action on the page is taken, (go to any piratebay proxy site and within 10 seconds you will understand what a pop is lol)

You can set your landing page to be your pop but generaly you would want more information on a pop, something that makes the user read it and not just close it straight off
