Personally, I doubt that SEO is completely dead, more like it's grown up and used differently now. Perhaps for its original intended purpose of helping people find relevant websites that actually are relevant to their queries without all the spam garbage (hopefully).

Gone are the old days when we looked up keywords to write about and post on high page rank sites.
 
Yes, that's a problem. I think search engines will strive to provide answers based on AI.
The last change was supposedly semantics of the content. Maybe AI is sorting by relevance and the latest? TBD I suppose. OpenAI search functions are better than search engine delivering a synopsis or conclusion --simply giving the sources. AI does the leg-work, and you can spot check it.

I think AI sorts not only by relevance and novelty, but it can also take into account the context of the request itself. In the request, every word influences the context. As for Claude, it's a digital monster altogether.

Indeed, this shift is challenging the old SEO playbook. Content must now be written more conversationally and in a genuinely helpful way to fit user intent beyond mere keywords.
