never use you root domain to send your email unless it is a domain specifically for sending emails and not your main business.

The best approach is like this;
yourname@promos. company. com
yourname@newsletter. company. com
etc

If you have a bad campaign that F's up your sender reputation on a sub-domain it barely affects your main domain and thus you can get rid of that sub-domain and just go to another (you do need to warm it up again).

If you mess up your main domain - using a sub-domain ain't gonna help you.
