What is Cloaking in SEO?

It's basically the Blach Hat SEO technique in which the content presented to the search engine crawlers is different from the one presented to the website visitors. Often it's being used in an attempt to trick search engines into giving the site a higher ranking, or, on the other hand, it can also be used to trick users into visiting a site that is different from the description shown in search results. It's considered a risky and bad method, as nothing you do or offer is exactly valid and real.

Cloaking tends to be more of a PPC thing due to its churn/burn nature. I think it's a great method (there are NASDAQ-listed media firms whose primary revenue channel is cloaked PPC) but the need... depends on your niche. In Casino, where affiliates often face trouble running ads through 'the regular channels' it is almost a necessity. In Adult, it is not necessary on AdWords but necessary on Facebook. With CBD/Nutra/Dating there are yet again different factors... at the end of the day it's something worth learning and having in your arsenal

this thread is full of the same answer over and over --

Cloaking is an SEO technique in which users are provided with content or information which is different from the content presented to search engine crawlers. A website is required to present content to search engine spiders or bots to help improve its search engine rankings for certain keywords.

Cloaking refers to the practice of presenting different content or URLs to human users and search engines. Cloaking is considered a violation of Google's Webmaster Guidelines because it provides our users with different results than they expected.

Cloaking in SEO is a special technique which implies the creation of the same page to different groups of users: search engine spiders and ordinary users.
Well designed, easy-to-read, user-friendly pages may lose out in search results (although there are exceptions), while optimized pages specially saturated with keywords may be inconvenient for users.

For these reasons, the cloaking method was created, for the implementation of which two versions of the page are created: one for search robots, the other for visitors. The user page is designed in a chaotic way, without any restrictions. The page intended for "spiders" is filled and designed in accordance with the optimization requirements, for which you need to have knowledge about search engines.

Cloaking (to cloak) - an attempt to manipulate the search engines when the information given to the user and the search robots on the same web page is different. I have encountered such things often, here is an example of the site "rarbg". I read about how this site used such a chip and because of what he advanced in the search engines. This information was in some course on marketing, if I find it I will tell you.

Cloaking in SEO is a method used to serve users content or information that is different from what is presented to search engine crawlers to improve a website’s search engine rankings for certain keywords.

There are different types of cloaking

User-Agent Cloaking

IP based cloaking

JavaScript cloaking

HTTP_REFERER cloaking

HTTP Accept-language header cloaking

The search engine keeps updating their algorithm frequently and if you use cloaking, they will sooner or later find it out and may permanently ban your website from being indexed.

That’s why digital marketing expert don’t recommend using cloaking in SEO

Cloaking is the process of concealing a website's identity from search engines. It's a sneaky way of using black hat SEO techniques to trick users into thinking they're seeing one thing when they're actually seeing something completely different. The objective of cloacking is to trick Google into thinking it has a different design, content, or both than it actually does. A user does not see the same design or content that Google does when they visit your site. Cloaking, in other words, is an attempt to fool Google into thinking your site is something it isn't. Obviously, there are better ways to improve your site's ranking!

Cloaking in SEO is a black hat technique where a website presents a different URL or content to users and another one to search crawlers. This is an attempt to deceive search engines to rank the website higher in SERPs.

Cloaking is a practice used by some search engine optimizers (SEOs) to improve their website's ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs).
Cloaking is achieved by presenting different content or URLs to search engines than to regular users, and is considered a black hat SEO technique.

Cloaking is not an effective SEO technique, and can actually result in search engine penalties. Cloaked pages are often quickly identified by search engines and flagged as spam. In addition, cloaking can create a poor user experience, as users may be taken to unexpected or irrelevant pages.

Cloaking is considered a deceptive practice and is against the guidelines set forth by both Google and Facebook.

Although cloaking may sometimes bypass ad moderation, it is not an effective long-term strategy and can ultimately result in penalties from Facebook.

There are many ways to detect the true user agent on an HTTP request. The most common way is to look at the User-Agent header. This header is sent by the browser with every request, and contains information about the browser and operating system. There are other headers that can also be used to detect the user agent, but the User-Agent header is the most reliable.

False: There are many ways to forge the User-Agent header.

Bash:
curl -I -vL -A "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 11_2_2 like Mac OS X) \
AppleWebKit/604.4.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/11.0 Mobile/15C202 Safari/604.1"
Helo: I am an iPhone now :p

Another way to detect the user agent is to look at the browser's JavaScript. Every browser has a different way of implementing JavaScript, so by looking at the code that is executed, it is possible to tell which browser is being used. This method is not as reliable as looking at the User-Agent header, but it can be used as a close second.

False: Headless Chrome, Puppeteer or Selenium can execute JavaScript and imitate a 'normal user browser' --this is exactly how cloaking can be detected --it is just a matter of suspicion and being worth the time in a moderation or manual review effort.

This is exactly how state of the art click-bots cheat you out of your ad money and distort your KPI metrics (statistics).

There are too many VPN apps that have backdoors for sale allowing the use of different residential IPs for manual inspection to get away for long with cloaking for any length of time. Once an ad, or a SEO SERP indexing and ranking. is accepted: it is reviewed or spidered again continually often with a CLOAKED User-Agent header --and that is how you will be detected.

STOP bumping this thread --it serves no real purpose --most of it is out of date internet misinformation ffs.
