You can also look on web directory list or site promotion forum, they have list of top directories.

I'd start with directories in your niche rather than general directories. There are a lot of sites that give lists of directories. Just search Google for something like "free directory list" with your niche added to the search. You'll find some sites that have big lists of directories.
