Who's using AI and why?

Just reading the title of that article (without actually reading the article) has me convinced that I am indeed, an old fuddy-duddy. Knowing less about it does not make me more open to it. That's not to say that I don't recognize its potential, its that I don't quite trust it yet.

All that said, I may try it for fun one day, stranger things have happened, I suppose but I'm really not excited about the possible harm that's been touted by the WEF, for example. I'm referring to their wanting to replace human workers. I'm uncomfortable with that side of it.

If anyone's worried that AI is going to take their job, then they really need to hone up their skills and get a better job.
As far as trust, I trust AI as much as I trust the internet, or anyone for that matter, which is very little. I question everything, always have.

Hi Grey,
This is my opinion for using AI and why:
Businesses, researchers, and developers are using AI to streamline operations, enhance decision-making, and improve customer experiences. Industries like healthcare, finance, and retail use AI for data analysis, automation, and predictive insights. AI helps improve efficiency, reduce costs, and innovate products, driving competitive advantage and growth.
Thanks!!

I'd forgotten about Red Dawn. It was so long ago that I saw it, I don't remember most of it, I'll have to watch it again.

Yeah, I can imagine it would save tons of time, I don't doubt its capability.

Well yesterday's stock market retreat, for the reason of DeepSeek (what I have tagged "DeepTemu"), shows what the business world feels that AI means to future business.

AI is more that some new game or fad. AI is probably more important than the internet, perhaps the next great step forward, or assisting in humans stepping forward.

Interesting take! It’s wild how less knowledge about AI actually makes people more open to it. The "magic" factor makes sense—once you understand the mechanics, it feels less impressive. I wonder how this impacts trust in AI across different industries.

Here are some talking points based on the article:

Counterintuitive Adoption Trends: People who know less about AI tend to be more open to adopting it. This goes against the assumption that more knowledge leads to more comfort with new technology.

Global Patterns: Research shows this trend isn't limited to one region—it's observed worldwide, suggesting that AI adoption is influenced by factors beyond just familiarity.

The "Magic" Factor: When people don’t understand how AI works, they view it as more "magical" or intriguing, which makes them more likely to embrace it.

Knowledge Reduces Magic: As people gain more knowledge about AI, they tend to see it less as something magical and more as a practical tool, which can reduce the initial excitement or willingness to adopt.

Task-Specific Preferences: People are more likely to accept AI for specific tasks where its functionality is clear and measurable, rather than for general or complex applications.

Not About Fear or Ethics: The reluctance to adopt AI isn't necessarily rooted in fear or ethical concerns—it's more about the complexity and understanding of the technology.

Implications for Education and Policy: These trends suggest a need for better AI education that focuses on making people comfortable with the technology, without overwhelming them with too much technical detail.

Practical Applications: Understanding these patterns can help businesses and policymakers design more effective strategies to encourage AI adoption in various industries, from healthcare to entertainment.
