Hi just finished reading the "How to Apply to Affiliate Networks" article and I'm wondering:

Why not just apply to Amazon Associates and create a website that advertises the Amazon links instead of working with an affiliate network? It seems like a lot less of a hassle.

What is everyone's experience with Amazon Associates compared to affiliate networks? Is one necessarily better than the other?

So, there are many hundreds of ways, perhaps thousands, depending where you want to measure the number of affiliate marketing opportunities on a scale.

For example, Amazon Associates provides a single form of affiliate marketing. It's just one means to make an affiliate sale.

Affiliate networks provide many forms of offers to promote. Some companies wants zip submits, or an email and name, or a credit card submit, trial signups, or an actual product sale, etc.

Affiliate programs are offers from specific companies looking for signups, referrals, sales, a combination of these, or some other form of engagement.

It seems like a lot less of a hassle.

First of all, to align any form of affiliate marketing with a thought of "hassle" is mind numbingly inaccurate and inappropriate. It is a completely self defeating mindset. One cannot succeed in this industry, or any industry, with thinking in advance that one form of marketing over another is a hassle.

What is everyone's experience with Amazon Associates compared to affiliate networks? Is one necessarily better than the other?

You can earn much bigger with other forms of affiliate marketing.

Why would people come to you Amazon clone and not one of the 2 million other Amazon clones? If it's a lot less hassle for you, the same things is true for millions of other web marketers.

If affiliate networks were not such a hodge-podge and offered data feeds that could be parsed --you would have a real market place.

I understand your frustration in seeking a *one-stop* solution.

However, the ROI today on Amazon is not that good unless you have the right (and probably) high volume traffic.

Have you resolved the traffic issues first? Run some traffic tests as far as ad response and server performance? The offers can be 'phony', if need be for the initial tests; or toward topical content that might be of interest to the ad viewer.

I don't know about others, but I consider amazon an affiliate network. It is a network where other business owners come and sell their products. Amazon takes care of the affiliate program for them. The main difference between amazon and most other affiliate networks is that most affiliate networks allow businesses to approve or not approve affiliates whereas amazon does not allow such an option. However sites like clickbank also didn't use to allow that option yet were still considered an affiliate network. The other main difference is that the companies don't need their own websites to sell their products on. However many large companies still have their own websites as well as list products for sale. So amazon associates is somewhat a mixture of a standard affiliate program and an affiliate network.

Amazon associates is a great network but it is not the end all of affiliate marketing. You are not going to find services that pay commissions month in and month out when a customer pays through amazon - something a lot of affiliates really like as it become a recurring commission.

I think @T J Tutor summed up pretty well the problem with a mindset of other networks being a hassle. marketing is all about the hassle. The hassle of picking products in a niche you want to work in. The hassle of creating content to promote those products. The hassle of interacting with communities to become an authority. The hassle of making and scaling ads. Its all a hassle if you see it as a hassle.

Also you are not limited to amazon so how is it any more of a hassle than any other affiliate program? There are tons and tons of affiliate networks and affiliate programs and no matter how big amazon is, they don't have every market cornered, else there would be no other affiliate programs or networks.

Like many people already have said because it's not the same actually anyway for many many reasons. You can't get amazon cps offers in some network for example LOL, only with them directly and totally. That's why for first, they do convert better, but pay CPS lower.

wrong way to look at things: for amazon 99% will need to order again from them. The clickbank thing is super competitive, full with scam artists, and you only fall once for that.

I think you are right here .Clickbank its super competitive and people dont trust so much clickbank over amazon where it a blion dolars company .But to make good money with amazon you need a huge volume of traffic
