Should I re-write the Newbie 411?

Yes! Re-write the guide. It's already good but definitely spruce it up with some updates that is relevant for 2014 perhaps. Some best practices and sorts.
Or perhaps create a banner for newcomer to subscriber so you could cater to that particular type of person via "coaching them via e-mails and giving them Daily Call to Actions"
