Apart from the obvious like PR, the appearance of a directory etc, what else do you look for when buying links from a web directory especially advert links that needs to be prepaid for months ahead.
Of course the price, and possibly the owner as well (if pay directory). I don't normally buy links from directories owned by people who regularly sells directories.
I generally look at the PR, and or the amount of links, that generally gives an idea into the future PR.
Design doesn't play a big factor for myself, as some of us aren't graphical artists, so I haven't yet deviated from the standard template on my Bid Directory.

Attention: "role based name" email prefixes such as support, webmaster, info, contact, forum, service, affiliate, admin, traffic, partners, marketing, etc., for our member accounts are not permitted. They are acceptable for a vendor listing, but not for the member email. This is due to bulk email processors scrubbing them for delivery due to extremely high bounce rates. If we discover you signed up with a role based name we will give you only one message to change it. After 3 days your account will be removed if the email is not changed.
